Hello Class!
I’ve finally made it onto the blogroll 3 weeks into the semester but I have good reason for being late. I’ve been on Dr’s orders for bedrest since the beginning of the month due to having surgery (myomectomy) but I’m feeling much better and ready to learn, contribute and catch up!
This is my 1st semester in my 2nd degree here at Queens College. I earned my B.A. in Accounting in 2009 but somewhere along the way, I realized I loved the food industry and decided to come back to study Nutrition. I believe this will enhance my personal well being as well as my career. But, no matter how many degrees or positions I get in Nutrition, I will always be the nagging wife to my husband and he will never give up his beloved burgers…
I am currently and have been for the past 3.5 years the food and beverage manager for Morton’s the Steakhouse-Great Neck but I’ve been with the company for 5 years, starting as a server. It’s a very high-end restaurant with a strong emphasis on quality of food and great service. We’re known for offering delicious entrees, sides and desserts with little regard to calorie counts or diets which unfortunately doesn’t coincide with my new path in life. Preaching healthy eating while serving 2000 calorie desserts is tearing me apart! So I’m at a crossroads.
